Charge different prices on delivery apps
Delivery apps take a commission on every order, so most takeaways charge 15-30% more on Uber Eats, Deliveroo and Just Eat than on their own POS, kiosk, website and app. You keep one menu. A delivery brand carries the delivery app prices, and Set delivery prices fills them all in from one percentage: products, sizes, toppings and choices.
It works both ways:
- Your menu has your in-store prices. The delivery apps charge your menu price plus the percentage.
- Your menu was imported from Uber Eats, Deliveroo or Just Eat. Those prices already include the markup. The delivery apps keep them, and your own menu prices are lowered by the same percentage.
Before you start
- You need a delivery brand. If you only have your main brand, create one first: see Setup Guide: Virtual Brands. Link it to your delivery app menus there too.
- You need head office access. Store logins can't change company menu prices.
- Select All Stores in the store switcher.
Set your delivery prices
- Go to Management > Menu > Virtual Brands > Brand menus.
- Choose your delivery brand at the top.
- Click Set delivery prices.
- Choose where your menu prices come from:
- My menu has my in-store prices
- My menu was imported from Uber Eats, Deliveroo or Just Eat
- Enter how much more the delivery apps charge. It starts at 30%, which suits most takeaways.
- Leave Round to .49 or .99 ticked to keep tidy prices, or untick it for exact prices.
- Check the preview. It shows each item's price on your menu and on the delivery apps.
- If you chose the imported option, tick the box to confirm your own prices will be lowered.
- Click Set prices.
- Click Send to delivery apps at the top of the page to update Uber Eats, Deliveroo and Just Eat.
Note: The imported option changes the prices on your POS, kiosk, website and app at every store that uses the company menu. Lowering is never repeated: running it again, or with a different percentage, starts from the delivery app prices you kept.
Good to know
- Items that are free on your menu are left as they are.
- Rounding never goes the wrong way: a delivery app price is never below your menu price, and a lowered menu price is never above the imported price. Prices under £2 round to the nearest .x9, so a 50p topping becomes 59p rather than 99p.
- You can still change any single price afterwards in Brand menus: turn on Own price for the item and edit it.
- Items you have left out of the brand stay out of it.
- Optimise Menu reminds you if your menu goes to delivery apps with no delivery prices set. See Optimise Menu: review and apply suggested fixes to your menu.
