"MyFoodFast POS needs reinstalling": what it means and how to fix it

Last verified: 2026-10-05

Overview

Very occasionally, an app update doesn't install cleanly and some of the POS app's files on the till are damaged. When that happens the POS can't start, and instead shows a white screen headed MyFoodFast POS needs reinstalling.

This is a problem with how the app was installed on that one till. It isn't caused by your account, your menu, or your network, and your other tills are not affected.

Note: Your orders, menu, staff and reports are all stored online. Reinstalling the app does not delete any of them.

What you'll see

The screen shows:

  • The heading MyFoodFast POS needs reinstalling
  • Three short steps to fix it
  • An Open App Store button
  • A small grey line at the bottom listing the damaged files and the app version. Quote this if you contact support.

On older versions of the app, the same problem looks different: you tap the MyFoodFast POS icon, it shows a white screen with the logo for a second, then drops straight back to the home screen.

How to fix it

  1. Press Open App Store on the screen. If you don't see the screen, open the App Store from the Sunmi home screen yourself.
  2. Find MyFoodFast POS and tap Uninstall.
  3. Tap Install to install it again.
  4. Open MyFoodFast POS. It will ask you to pair the terminal.
  5. In Back Office, go to Terminals, get a pairing PIN for this till, and enter it on the till.

The till is then back to normal.

Note: Clearing the app's storage or cache in the Sunmi Settings does not fix this. The damaged files are part of the installed app, so only uninstalling and installing again replaces them.

Common questions

Will I lose my orders or menu? No. Everything is stored online. After you pair the till again, it downloads your menu and settings automatically.

Why do I need to pair the till again? Uninstalling removes the till's link to your store. Pairing it again with a fresh PIN from Back Office › Terminals restores it.

Can this happen again? It's rare and usually follows an app update. If the same till shows this screen more than once, contact support and quote the grey line at the bottom of the screen. We'll check the till remotely.
