What changed
The POS has a new look on every screen. Everything you could do before is still there, but controls now sit in the same place on every screen and are sized for a busy till.
The header
The bar at the top is the same on the order screen and the Track screen.
- Order type: the Phone / Takeaway / Table switch on the left sets the type of the order you are building.
- Prep and delivery times: the chips show the current times. Tap one to open a sheet of minute tiles; the current value is ringed, and the red Pause tile stops new online orders of that type until you tap Resume.
- Logo: tap the logo for Quick links to the kitchen display, collection display, delivery map and Back Office.
- Shift: Start shift shows in red when no shift is open. Once a shift is open the chip turns green and reads Shift open; tap it for X and Z reads (a manager PIN is needed).
- Search menu: on wide screens this is a text box; on smaller tills it is a magnifier icon that opens the box. Results list the item, its category and price; simple items add straight to the order, items with options open them.
- Track: opens the Track screen. The badge on it shows how many orders are waiting.
- Settings: the gear on the far right.
Taking an order
The order screen has three parts.
- Category rail on the left: your categories, plus Deals and Featured at the top. Tap a category to show its items.
- Item grid in the middle: four tiles across. A price such as from £8.50 · 3 sizes means the item has sizes; £6.00 · customise means it has options to choose. After you add an item the grid stays on that category, so a second pizza or another drink is one tap away. Tap All categories on the rail, or Home in the breadcrumb, to go back to the full list. (The old Hold button did this; it is no longer needed.)
- Order panel on the right: everything in the order, grouped by category, with the totals and the Pay button at the bottom. Tap a line to change its quantity, add a note or remove it. Notes offer quick chips such as No salt and Allergy that you can tap instead of typing.
Chips at the top of the panel set the details of the order:
- Table: opens Select table with a tab for each area of the restaurant. Tables that already have an open order are greyed out and marked open order; No table clears the choice.
- Time and source on phone orders: opens When and how, where you pick Delivery or Collection, choose ASAP, Today at… or Another day, set the time, and pick the source such as Phone or Walk-in. Times within 15 minutes are treated as ASAP.
Note: Items you have removed from an order that has already gone to the kitchen need a manager PIN, as before. The Manager PIN needed card says what the PIN is for; Cancel on the pad backs out.
Tracking orders
Tap Track in the header. The list has tabs for Scheduled, Pending, Ready and Completed, with a count on each. See Tracking orders on the Track screen.
Smaller tills
On compact tills such as the V3 Mix the layout keeps the same parts but tightens the spacing: the rail is narrower, the item tiles are shorter and some header controls show as icons. If you see a red banner saying the display size is too large, see Display size is set too large.
