First-order welcome offer: 20% off a customer's first online order

Last verified: 2026-09-29

What the welcome offer is

Every MyFoodFast store gives new online customers 20% off their first online order, up to £5 off. It is applied automatically on your website and your ordering app, with no promo code, so first-time customers have a reason to order online with you and create an account. That account is how they join your automated marketing, which then works to bring them back for a second order.

You don't need to set anything up. It is on for every store.

Who gets itSigned-in customers placing their first online order with your business

The 20% is worked out on the food and drink in the basket, before delivery or service charges. For example, a single £6.99 meal gets £1.40 off, a £20 basket gets £4 off, and a £40 basket gets £5 off (the cap).

Who qualifies

A customer gets the offer when they are signed in and have never placed an online order with your business before, at any of your stores.

  • In-store and phone orders don't count. A regular who has only ever ordered at the counter still gets the offer on their first online order, which is the point: it moves them online.
  • Baskets they abandoned, and payments that were declined or failed, don't count. Only orders that were actually placed do.
  • One offer per person, not per email address. If someone makes a second account with a new email but the same mobile number, or the same email, the offer isn't given again.
  • Guests don't get it. "First order" can only be checked for a signed-in customer. Your website and app show the offer so guests sign up to claim it.

It never applies to POS, kiosk or third-party marketplace orders (Just Eat, Uber Eats, Deliveroo and so on).

How it works with your own promos and codes

A customer gets one basket-wide discount per order:

  • Promo codes win. If the customer types a promo code and it applies, the welcome offer is not added on top.
  • Your automatic basket discounts: the bigger one wins. If you run an automatic basket-wide promo (for example your own "10% off for new customers"), the customer gets whichever of the two saves them more, never both.
  • Meal deals and item deals still apply. Deals such as bundles, BOGOF and meal deals stay as they are, and the 20% is worked out on the basket after those deal prices.

Loyalty points can still be redeemed as normal.

Note: If you already set up your own new-customer promo under Management > Menu > Promos & Deals, you can leave it or remove it. A customer never gets both. If yours is worth more on a given basket, yours is used.

What you see on orders and reports

  • On the order and receipt the discount shows as its own line: 20% off your first online order, with the amount. It comes off the order total like any other promo.
  • In the Discounts report (Reports > Sales Reports > Discounts, at Store level with a store selected in the switcher) there is a Welcome Offer section. It shows how many orders used the offer and the total value given away.
  • In the Operations report (Reports > Sales Reports > Operations) the discounts summary has a Welcome offer line.

Can I turn it off?

No. The welcome offer is part of MyFoodFast's online ordering for every store, like your automated marketing. The £5 cap keeps the cost of each new customer small and predictable. The Discounts report shows exactly what it has cost you.
