Deleting your customer account

If a customer wants to delete their account on your website, they can do this themselves from the profile page. This permanently removes their personal details and stops any future automated marketing from being sent to them.

Where the option lives

The customer signs in, opens My Profile, and scrolls to the Danger Zone at the bottom of the page. The red Delete My Account button is there.

After clicking it, a confirmation dialog appears so accidental clicks do not delete the account. The customer must click Delete Account in that dialog to proceed.

What gets deleted

  • The customer's name, email, phone number and saved addresses
  • Their account login

Past orders are kept on your store for accounting and reporting reasons, but they are no longer linked to a customer profile that can sign back in.

After deletion

The customer is signed out automatically and returned to the home page. If they sign in again with the same phone number, a brand-new empty account is created.

If deletion fails

If the Delete Account button shows a red message inside the dialog, the deletion did not go through. The customer can:

  1. Try again — temporary network problems are the most common cause.
  2. Sign out and sign back in, then retry.
  3. Contact support if the error keeps happening.

Note: A customer's right to have their data erased is protected under GDPR. If a customer cannot delete their own account through the website, you should remove their record manually from the back-office and confirm in writing.
