Set up RustDesk for remote support

Last verified: 2026-06-25

So our support team can help you quickly over the phone, we sometimes need to see your POS screen. We now use a free tool called RustDesk for this. Setting it up takes a couple of minutes and only needs doing once per terminal.

Note: RustDesk replaces AnyDesk for remote support. If you used AnyDesk before, you don't need it any more — just follow the steps below to switch over.

Step 1 — Download RustDesk

  1. Go to rustdesk.com/download.
  2. Find the Windows section and click the EXE download for 64-bit (the file is named like rustdesk-1.4.8-x86_64.exe).

Note: You can type rustdesk.com/download straight into Chrome's address bar.

Step 2 — Install it on your computer

  1. Open the file you just downloaded (rustdesk-1.4.8-x86_64.exe).
  2. When RustDesk opens, click Install.
  3. If Windows asks for permission to make changes, click Yes.

Note: Installing it (rather than just running it) means RustDesk starts automatically with Windows, so we can reach your terminal whenever you call for help.

Step 3 — Set a permanent password

This lets our team connect when you need support without you having to read out a new code each time.

  1. In the RustDesk window, open Settings (the menu at the top of the window), then click Security.
  2. Click Unlock security settings and click Yes if Windows asks for permission.
  3. Under Password, click Set permanent password.
  4. In the password box, type Myfoodfast1 and save it. Type it exactly as shown — a capital M at the start and the number 1 at the end (RustDesk requires a capital letter and a number).

Note: Please set the password to exactly Myfoodfast1. This is the standard password our support team uses, so setting it the same on every terminal means we can help you straight away when you call.

Step 4 — Send us your ID

On the left of the RustDesk window, under Your Desktop, you'll see your ID — a 9-digit number.

Email your ID to support@myorderboxhq.com, or send it to your usual support contact. You don't need to send the password — as long as you set it to Myfoodfast1 above, we already have it.

Once we have your ID, we can connect to help you whenever you call — you don't need to do anything at the terminal.

Keeping RustDesk ready

  • Leave RustDesk installed. It starts automatically with Windows, so it's always ready.
  • You'll see the RustDesk icon in the system tray (bottom-right of your screen). You don't need to keep the window open.
  • Your ID stays the same, so you only need to send it to us once.
