Product Images on the Kiosk

Last verified: 2026-09-17

How the kiosk handles product images

The kiosk keeps a copy of every product, deal, modifier and welcome-screen image on the device. The first time a customer opens a menu category the kiosk downloads the images it needs. After that they load straight from the device, so the menu appears instantly and the kiosk uses very little internet data during the day.

Once a day the kiosk checks with MyFoodFast whether any stored image has changed. If a photo has been replaced, the new one is downloaded; if not, nothing is transferred.

Note: Images stay on the device even if the internet connection drops, so a kiosk that has shown the menu before keeps showing photos while offline.

Updating a product photo

  1. In Back Office, go to Management > Menu > Menu Setup and find the product.
  2. Click Remove on the current image, then upload the new photo. See Add product images for the size and format to use.
  3. The new photo appears on the kiosk within 24 hours, at the start of the next customer's order.

If you need the change to show straight away, close and reopen the kiosk app. It will check every image again the next time the menu opens.

Tip: Uploading the photo under a new filename is the fastest way to make a change show, because the kiosk treats it as a brand-new image and downloads it immediately.

Frequently asked questions

The kiosk is showing the old photo after I replaced it. The kiosk checks each image once a day. Either wait for the daily check, restart the kiosk app, or re-upload the photo with a different filename.

Do I need to clear anything on the kiosk when I change my menu? No. New products download their images the first time they are shown, and images for products you remove are cleaned up automatically after two months of not being displayed.

How much storage do the images use? A typical menu of around 100 products uses well under 100 MB. The kiosk keeps at most 2,000 images and removes the least recently shown ones if that limit is reached.

Does this change how images look? No. The photos are the same ones uploaded in the back office; only where the kiosk reads them from has changed.
