Bump Items on KDS
User story
I would like to bump off each item as it is prepared within an order. How do I do this?
Item-by-item bumping is always available on the kitchen display — no setup needed.
Bumping items one at a time
- Tap an item once to mark it as started. The item shows as in progress.
- Tap the item again to mark it as done. Done items stay on the order card with a done indicator, so you can see your progress at a glance.
Tip: Press and hold an item to mark it done in a single step.
What happens when the order is finished
Once every item on your screen's order card is done, the order leaves your screen automatically — there is nothing else to tap.
- If your restaurant uses an Expo screen, the order appears there as soon as the whole order is ready, so front-of-house can assemble and hand it off.
- If your kitchen has multiple prep screens, the order leaves your screen when your items are done, even while another station is still working on theirs.
Bumping a whole order at once
- Tap the order card (not an individual item) to move the whole order forward one step.
- Press and hold the order card to mark the entire order as done in one go.
Made a mistake?
After a bump, an UNDO button appears at the bottom of the screen for a few seconds. Tap it to bring the item — and the order card, if it had disappeared — straight back.
