Deliver orders with Uber Direct couriers

Last verified: 2026-07-11

What is Uber Direct?

Uber Direct lets you deliver your own website, app and phone orders with Uber's courier network — without hiring your own drivers. Once enabled, every confirmed delivery order is sent to Uber automatically, a courier is booked for you, and your customer can follow the courier on a live tracking page.

Note: Your customers still pay your normal delivery charge at checkout. The Uber courier fee is billed to your own Uber Direct account — it is a cost to your business, so make sure your delivery charges cover it.

Before you start

You will need:

  1. An Uber Direct account — sign up at Uber Direct and note your developer credentials.
  2. A HubRise connection for your store — Uber Direct connects through HubRise. If your store is not connected yet, go to Setup > Integrations > Delivery Platforms at Store level (with a store selected in the switcher) and connect HubRise first.

Step 1: Connect the Uber Direct Bridge in HubRise

  1. Log in to the HubRise back office.
  2. Find your store's location and connect the Uber Direct Bridge app.
  3. In the bridge configuration, fill in:
    • Your business name and phone number
    • Your pickup address (make sure the map pin is exactly on your entrance)
    • Pickup instructions for couriers
    • Your usual preparation time
  4. Set the booking mode to Auto-book couriers.
  5. Choose what should happen if a delivery cannot be completed (leave at door, or return to store).

Step 2: Enable Uber Direct in Back Office

  1. At Store level (with a store selected in the switcher), go to Setup > Integrations > Uber Direct.
  2. Turn on Enable Uber Direct.
  3. Click Save Changes.

If the toggle is greyed out, your store is not connected to HubRise yet — see "Before you start" above.

How it works day to day

  1. A delivery order arrives from your website, app or POS.
  2. As soon as you accept the order, it is sent to Uber and a courier is booked automatically for your preparation time.
  3. When the courier picks up and heads to the customer, the order moves to On the way by itself — you do not need to assign a driver.
  4. When the courier delivers, the order is marked Delivered automatically.

Your customer's order tracking page shows the courier's name, phone number, live position, and a link to Uber's own live tracking map.

If the courier cancels

If Uber cancels a delivery (for example, no couriers are available), the order comes back to your dispatch screen as Ready to dispatch and your store is alerted. You can then:

  • Assign one of your own drivers, or
  • Re-confirm the order so a new Uber courier is booked.

Frequently asked questions

Do my customers pay the Uber fee? No. Customers pay the delivery charge you configured in your delivery zones. The Uber courier fee is charged to your Uber Direct account.

Can I mix Uber Direct and my own drivers? Yes. Uber Direct handles orders automatically, but if a courier cancels — or you disable the add-on — you can always assign your own drivers as usual.

Which orders are sent to Uber Direct? Confirmed delivery orders from your own channels (website, app, POS, phone). Orders that already arrive from delivery platforms such as Deliveroo or Uber Eats are not sent — those platforms manage their own couriers.
