How do I start a driver shift?

Last verified: 2026-03-06

Before you can assign delivery orders to a driver, the driver must have an active shift on the POS. This guide covers how to start and end a driver shift.

Prerequisites

Start a driver shift

  1. On the POS, tap Track to open the delivery tracking screen.
  2. Tap the Driver button.
  3. Select the driver from the list.
  4. Tap Start.
  5. Enter the Driver Float amount -- this is the cash the driver starts their shift with for making change.
  6. Tap Start Shift to confirm.

The driver now appears as available on the Track screen and can be assigned delivery orders.

End a driver shift

  1. On the POS, tap Track.
  2. Tap the Driver button.
  3. Select the active driver whose shift you want to end.
  4. Tap End Shift.
  5. Review the shift summary, which shows total deliveries, cash collected, and the expected cash amount.
  6. Confirm to close the shift.

Note: A driver cannot be assigned orders unless they have an active shift. Make sure all delivery drivers start their shifts at the beginning of the working day.
