Before you can assign delivery orders to a driver, the driver must have an active shift on the POS. This guide covers how to start and end a driver shift.
Prerequisites
- The driver must already be added as a user in the Back Office. See Add or delete users / drivers from the POS for instructions.
- The POS must be synced with the latest Back Office data.
Start a driver shift
- On the POS, tap Track to open the delivery tracking screen.
- Tap the Driver button.
- Select the driver from the list.
- Tap Start.
- Enter the Driver Float amount -- this is the cash the driver starts their shift with for making change.
- Tap Start Shift to confirm.
The driver now appears as available on the Track screen and can be assigned delivery orders.
End a driver shift
- On the POS, tap Track.
- Tap the Driver button.
- Select the active driver whose shift you want to end.
- Tap End Shift.
- Review the shift summary, which shows total deliveries, cash collected, and the expected cash amount.
- Confirm to close the shift.
Note: A driver cannot be assigned orders unless they have an active shift. Make sure all delivery drivers start their shifts at the beginning of the working day.
