Overview
If you run the POS on a Sunmi terminal with a built-in thermal printer (such as the V3 Mix or the countertop T2 / D3 series), you can print customer receipts, kitchen tickets, and dispatch tickets straight from the device — no separate network receipt printer required. You can also kick the Sunmi integrated cash drawer from the same setup.
Note: This applies to 80mm Sunmi printers (including the 80mm Sunmi V3 Mix). The built-in printer also handles paper cutting automatically after each receipt.
Before you start
- You must be running the POS on a Sunmi device (the option only appears on Sunmi hardware).
- Allergen labels are not supported on the Sunmi built-in printer — those need a separate Zebra label printer, because labels use a different print format.
Select the Sunmi built-in printer
- Go to Settings > Printers.
- Tap Discover (the refresh button) next to the printer you want to set up.
- In the dropdown, choose Sunmi Built-in Printer — it shows a Built-in tag and appears at the top of the list.
- Repeat for each printer you want to route to the built-in printer:
- Customer Printer — customer receipts
- Kitchen Printers — kitchen tickets (select it for each kitchen station you want printed on the built-in printer)
- Dispatch Printer — dispatch tickets (if your terminal has dispatch printing enabled)
Your selection is saved automatically.
Test the printer
- After selecting Sunmi Built-in Printer, tap Test Print.
- A short test receipt prints and the paper is cut.
If nothing prints, see Troubleshooting below.
Open the cash drawer
If your customer receipt printer is set to Sunmi Built-in Printer, the cash drawer also works through the Sunmi device:
- Go to Settings > Peripherals.
- Tap Open Cash Drawer — the integrated Sunmi drawer opens.
Troubleshooting
- "Sunmi Built-in Printer" doesn't appear in the list — Make sure you are on a Sunmi device and tap Discover again. The option only shows on Sunmi hardware.
- Out of paper — A message appears when the printer is out of paper. Open the paper compartment, load a fresh 80mm roll, close the cover, and try again.
- Cover open — Make sure the paper compartment is fully closed, then retry.
- Printer overheated — Wait a short while for the print head to cool, then try again.
- Receipt text looks cut off at the edges — The built-in printer support is designed for 80mm paper. Make sure you are using an 80mm roll.
