What Repeat Order does
Repeat Order rebuilds a customer's last order as a brand-new basket, so you don't have to key a regular's usual from scratch.
It is a new order, not a copy of the old one. The original order is untouched — you take payment, send it to the kitchen and track it exactly as you would any other order.
Where to find it
- Open the customer you're serving. On a phone order you'll usually already be here — if you have Caller ID, the popup takes you straight to the customer's record when they ring. See Caller ID: see who's calling on the POS.
- Their most recent order is listed under their details.
- Tap Repeat Order.
The basket is built for you and the POS returns to the menu, ready for you to add anything else.
Note: If the customer has never ordered before, there's nothing to repeat and no button appears.
What carries over
- Every item, at the same quantity — three portions of chips come back as three.
- The size the customer chose, at the correct price.
- Toppings, sides and modifiers, including things they asked to leave out, like "no onions".
- Item notes, such as "no nuts — allergy".
What doesn't carry over
A repeat is a new order placed now, so a few things are deliberately left off:
- The time. The new order is due at the current time, not the original's.
- Discounts, coupons and loyalty points. Apply these again if they still qualify.
- Order notes on the order as a whole (item notes do carry over).
- The order type. The new order uses whatever type is selected on screen — Delivery, Collection, Take Away or Table — not the type of the original order. Check it's right before you take payment.
"Some items couldn't be repeated"
Two kinds of item can't be rebuilt automatically:
- Half & half items, like half margherita, half pepperoni.
- Items that were part of a deal, like a family meal deal.
These are priced by the deal they belong to, so the POS won't guess at rebuilding them and risk charging the wrong amount. Everything else is added as normal, and a message names the items you need to add yourself from the menu.
You may also see a message that one of the customer's toppings is no longer on the menu. The item is still added — just without that topping. Add a replacement if the customer wants one.
"Start a new order?"
If you already have items in the basket when you tap Repeat Order, the POS asks before continuing. Repeating an order always starts a fresh basket, so anything already in the current one is discarded.
- Tap Cancel to keep what you have.
- Tap Repeat Order to clear the basket and rebuild the customer's last order.
Check the total before taking payment
Repeat Order is a shortcut, not a replacement for checking the order. Read the basket back to the customer before you take payment — menu prices, sizes and available toppings can all have changed since they last ordered.
Troubleshooting
The button doesn't appear. The customer has no previous orders on record. Take the order from the menu as normal.
Nothing was added and I got a message. Every item on that order was a deal or a half & half item. Add them from the menu.
Only some items were added. Something went wrong partway through — the message on screen says which item failed. Whatever was added is kept, so add the rest by hand and carry on.
The total is higher than the customer's last order. Check the sizes and any extras against what they've asked for. Menu prices change, and a repeat always uses today's prices.
