The Priority badge on boosted orders

When a manager prioritises an urgent order from the POS, that order jumps to the top of every kitchen display and shows a red ↑ Priority badge on its card header.

The badge tells the kitchen the order was moved up on purpose — it hasn't appeared out of sequence by mistake.

You will see:

  • The order sits at the top of the queue, ahead of orders that would otherwise come first by due time.
  • A red ↑ Priority badge next to the order type (for example, Delivery or Collection) on the card header.
  • On a large order that continues across more than one column, the badge also appears on each · continued card, so priority is clear wherever you're looking.

How an order becomes a priority

Prioritising happens on the POS, not on the kitchen display:

  1. A manager opens the order on the POS and chooses to prioritise it (this requires manager authorisation).
  2. The order immediately moves to the top of every KDS station and gains the Priority badge.
  3. If the manager removes the priority, the badge disappears and the order returns to its normal position by due time.

Note: The badge is only a signal — you prepare and bump a priority order exactly like any other. Once you bump it, it leaves the display as usual.

If two orders are both priority

If more than one order has been prioritised, they all sit at the top of the queue and are ordered among themselves by due time, just like normal orders.
