The delivery charge tax setting controls whether VAT is applied to the delivery fee charged to customers. You can set it to either zero-rated or standard-rated depending on your tax obligations.
Prerequisites
- A MyFoodFast POS and Back Office account
- Delivery charges already configured (see How do I set a Delivery Service Charge?)
Set the delivery charge tax rate
- Log in to the Back Office.
- Navigate to Setup > Online Ordering > Delivery.
- Locate the Delivery Charge Tax setting.
- Select one of the following options:
- Zero rated -- no VAT is applied to the delivery charge.
- Standard rated -- VAT is applied at the standard rate (e.g. 20% in the UK).
- Click Save.
- Click Update All to publish the change.
Sync the POS
- Open MyOrderBox POS on your terminal.
- Go to Settings > Sync.
- Wait for the sync to complete.
The delivery charge on future orders will now reflect the selected tax rate.
Zero-rated vs standard-rated
- Zero-rated is commonly used when the delivery charge is treated as a separate service that is exempt from VAT.
- Standard-rated applies the normal VAT rate to the delivery charge, which is then included in tax reports.
Note: Tax treatment of delivery charges varies by jurisdiction. We strongly recommend consulting your accountant or tax adviser to determine the correct setting for your business.
