Reset or deregister a Kitchen Display device
When you set up a Kitchen Display, you register it to a specific screen using a 6-digit PIN. The device remembers that registration and goes straight to the orders screen every time it starts up — so you don't have to re-enter the PIN each shift.
If a device ends up registered to the wrong screen — for example you typed the wrong PIN, or you want to move a tablet to a different station — you can reset it from inside the app. There's no need to reinstall the app or clear its data in the device settings.
Note: Resetting only affects this one device. It returns to the PIN screen and stops showing orders until you register it again. Other Kitchen Displays in your store are not affected.
Reset a device
- On the Kitchen Display orders screen, find the ⋮ (three-dot) menu button in the top toolbar, next to the power/exit button.
- Tap ⋮, then tap Deregister device.
- A confirmation appears naming the screen the device is currently registered to — for example, Reset this device? This will deregister "Grill Station".... Check the name so you know you're resetting the right device.
- Tap Reset to confirm, or Cancel to keep the current registration.
- The device returns to the PIN screen.
Register the device again
- On the PIN screen, enter the 6-digit registration PIN for the screen you want this device to show.
- The device registers and starts showing that screen's orders right away.
Note: You'll need the registration PIN to set the device up again, so make sure you have the correct PIN before you reset. If you don't know it, check with your manager or your back-office settings before deregistering.
When to use this
- You registered a device to the wrong screen and want to correct it.
- You're moving a tablet from one station to another (for example, from Grill to Expo).
- You're handing a device to a different store or location and want to clear its current registration first.
This works the same way on both the web Kitchen Display and the Sunmi tablet.
