Overview
Half & Half lets a customer combine two different pizzas (or any split-product category) onto a single base. Each half can have its own toppings, but both halves share one size and one base price plus an optional split charge.
The Back Office creates a Half & Half deal automatically for every category that has Split products enabled, so you don't need to build the deal by hand. It appears on the POS like any other deal.
Before you start
Half & Half must be enabled per category in the Back Office.
- Go to Menu > Categories in the Back Office
- Open the category (for example, Pizza)
- Turn on Split products
- (Optional) Set a Split products charge — this is added to the order whenever a customer builds a half and half from that category
- Save
Once saved, a new deal called Half & Half {Category Name} appears under Deals automatically. You don't need to edit it.
Build a Half & Half pizza
- On the POS, start a new order
- Tap Deals
- Pick the Half & Half deal for the category you want (for example, Half & Half Pizza)
- You'll see the deal picker with two steps labelled First half and Second half
- First half — pick the pizza you want on the first half, then choose its size
- Second half — pick the pizza you want on the second half. Only the matching size is shown, so both halves are always the same size
- Choose any toppings or options for each half. Options you pick on the first half only apply to that half, and vice versa
- Tap Apply to add the half and half pizza to the cart
Note: If you set a split charge on the category, it shows as + £X.XX split charge below the deal name while you're picking the halves, so you know what's being added.
How it reads in the cart
Once applied, the cart row for a Half & Half pizza looks like:
Half & Half Pizza £14.50
½ Margherita / ½ Pepperoni — Large
+ Olives
+ Extra cheese
The header keeps the deal name and price as usual. The combined summary makes it clear at a glance that this is a half and half, what's on each half, and what size it is. Any toppings you picked per half show underneath.
The same combined line prints on the kitchen ticket, so the kitchen can see the full half and half on one line without hunting through two separate product entries.
Troubleshooting
The deal isn't appearing
Check that Split products is enabled on the category in Back Office. Half & Half deals are created automatically when a category has split products turned on.
The size picker on the second half only shows one option
That's expected. Both halves of a Half & Half must share a size, so the second half is filtered to match whatever size you picked on the first half. To change the size, tap back and reselect the first half's size.
The split charge isn't showing on the order total
The split charge applies when the deal is actually built with two different products. If both halves are the same product, no split charge is added. Check the Split products charge value on the category in Back Office if it's always missing.
